Lantern Lit on 2/27/14-3/5/14 for Linda Dickenson and Jeffrey Fish

GREEN BAY – Green Bay Police say the two bodies they found yesterday on the city’s east side were the result of a murder-suicide.

52-year-old Jeffrey Fish and 47-year-old Linda Dickenson were found dead in their Bader Street apartment.

Green Bay Police say Monday morning wasn’t the first time they were at the residence of Fish and Dickenson.

“We’ve had several contacts with them, going back to 2007 where they’d been involved in disturbances with each other, usually verbal disturbances and usually alcohol was involved in the disturbances,” said Captain Todd Thomas with the Green Bay Police Department.

Authorities say the latest disturbance happened after the couple was drinking with family and friends at a wedding on Friday night. The next morning, Fish didn’t show up to go fishing with his family. On Monday morning, Dickenson didn’t go to work. Her employer called police.

“Autopsy was completed this morning and it has been ruled that Jeff shot Linda as she was near the front door of the apartment, then he went in the bedroom and committed suicide with the same rifle,” said Thomas.

Police shared the details at Golden House, a center to help victims of domestic violence.

“We’ve lost two more lives in our community that could have been prevented,” said Karen Faulkner, the executive director of Golden House.
Last year as part of its intervention project, Golden House called more than 1,100 domestic violence victims. The project attempts to help victims in a situation that resulted in an arrest. Dickenson was never called because Fish was never arrested in the ten years they dated.

“If there is enough probable cause, where we can make an arrest, we’ll absolutely make an arrest and start that process and make an intervention that way,” said Thomas.

Police say Dickenson’s family told them it tried to intervene in the past. The family claimed Fish previously gave Dickenson a black eye and pulled a gun on her.

“The option of leaving sounds simple to people outside of a relationship, but it’s often a very complex decision,” said Faulkner.

It’s a decision authorities hope more victims decide to make, to prevent a similar situation from happening.

Green Bay Police say of the city’s last 11 homicides, not drug or vehicle related, 5 were connected to domestic violence.
