Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)
October 2025

Picture

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), and the NRCDV's Domestic Violence Awareness Project's national theme this year is With Survivors, Always: "This theme allows us to explore what it means to be in partnership with survivors toward safety, support, and solidarity. It is both a love letter and a call to action for those committed to advocating for survivors’ needs and rights."

Please see below for multiple ways you can get involved this October. If you're interested in a presentation on Hope House services, domestic violence, or teen dating violence for your agency, business, civic group, church, campus or school, please call us at 608-356-9123 or email us here. Be sure to check out our Facebook page and Instagram page for updates!

  • Oct 9: Bingo Night Fundraiser, Mauston: Everyone loves Bingo and great food and drinks, right?! Well if you do, join us at Gravity Box Brewing Company in Mauston on October 9, starting at 5pm. Bingo cards are $2 each. All funds raised from Bingo will go straight to Hope House and support survivors during Domestic Violence Awareness Month! Bring a donation from our wish list, and you'll get a free space on your card. We'll see you there!
  • Oct 18: Color Run in Adams: Join us for “Silence Conceals Violence,” a 5K Color Run on Saturday, October 18th at Adams-Friendship Middle School! Day-of registration opens at 9am, with the 5K kicking off at 10am. Enjoy a morning full of energy and community with a coffee truck, DJ, and face painting. Every registrant is entered for a chance to win exciting door prizes, and you’ll also receive a commemorative event t-shirt! Check out the resource booths from Adams County Health & Human Services, local Law Enforcement, ROUTE (Resources and Opportunities to Uplift Trafficking Experiences), Healthfirst, and the Ho-Chunk Nation. This is a fun, family-friendly event with a powerful message—and a great way to come together in support of ending violence. Register here - only $10!
  • Oct 23: Purple Thursday Donation Drive in Baraboo: October 23rd is #PurpleThursday, a national day of awareness when we wear purple to show support of domestic violence survivors. For Hope House, it’s also our big Purple Thursday Donation Drive! From 7am-3pm at Hope House (720 Ash St. in Baraboo), you’re invited to drop off donations from our wish list (see below) to help stock our shelves. Stop by with a donation between 11am-1pm and get a free meal (burger or hotdog with chips and a soda) courtesy of the Baraboo Elks Lodge. Let’s make it a year to remember - consider competing with other friends, family members, co-workers, or businesses to see who can bring in the most donations to help support survivors in our communities!
