Bonnell Hanger, 39, of Madison doubled over, put his head in his hands and cried before telling police, "I shot my kid brother," according to a criminal complaint filed in Dane County Circuit Court.
Witnesses said Hanger and his brother, Fredrica Hanger, 33, who was released from prison just under a week before he died, argued about something before the shooting occurred, though the criminal complaint does not say what they argument was about.
Olympia Hanger, sister of Fredrica and Bonnell Hanger, who heard the argument and went out to see what was happening, told police she heard Bonnell say to his brother, "What are you going to do?" before hearing gunshots. She told police she also saw the flash from the gun as it went off.
She told police she went toward the car and asked Bonnell Hanger, "Did you just shoot my brother?" He responded, "Yeah, I shot him."
He died from gunshot wounds to the head.
